Mar-Jon Guinea—2006 bay maiden mare (Brookside Bronze Tupenny x Mar-Jon April). 12.3h. Bred by Margaret Allen of Glenella, Manitoba. We call her “Nickki.” Her dam, Mar-Jon’s April, was a performance and halter horse in Manitoba. April’s pedigree is studded with the names of foundation Welsh farms such as GlenNant, Farnley, and Findeln, producers of larger section B ponies. The dam side of Guinea’s pedigree includes notable imported stallions such as Downland Drummer Boy, the sire of Farnley Bellringer, Brockwell Spider and Cusop Sheriff. Bellringer was an influential stallion for both Alvesta Welsh and Pajon’s Welsh of Alberta. Guinea’s Sire was Brookside Bronze Tupenny, a son of Duntarvie Janus, known for his gentleness and athletic ability. “DunTarvie” is one of the legendary Welsh prefixes of the UK. Tupenny’s dam is a daughter of Solway Master Bronze, one of four legendary founders of the section “B” Welsh ponies. Guinea is a full sister to Mar-Jon Schilling, a producer for Ponies Galore of Minn. Given her performance bloodlines, Guinea is a bargain.
